normal might just be

around the corner.

I went to the post office last evening and the box was so full I nearly couldn't retrieve the mail.
It's been like that around here lately.
I know.
I have nearly all adult children and what on earth could be wrong with me?
It has been a crazy 8 months or so.
Incidentally, there are some of us who have home addresses who prefer to have a post office box.
We aren't drug runners.
We just don't like to collect our mail.
Really. How often do you get anything good in yours other than a sales circular and a bill?
This pickup had enough magazines in it to keep me reading through a trip to Minnesota and back.
Only one of which I'm going to read.
What a waste!

Then I came home and attacked this pile as well.
Lo and behold!
My W-2 really had come in the mail. Who knows when.
Yet another little piece of paper that will in all likelihood be the equivalent of another bill.
I really need to get to the filing of tax returns for kidlets this week.
Mine can wait ... a very long time.

So now that life has settled down a tad and my studying has only about 15 weeks remaining,
you might just see a bit more of me in the land of blog.
I think I have some wedding crafting projects to share with you.
There really have been some deeper thoughts rolling around in my noggin here and there.
They've obviously not been shared.
I've been highly disappointed with the lack of time available for creativity in the Project 52 department and am hoping that will also change.

See you around the bend!

We cannot solve problems with the same thinking that created the problem.
We must change the way we think.

7:52 motivational monday

The glory is not in never failing,
but in rising every time you fail.
-Chinese Proverb

The dresses were successfully altered and
we celebrated a marriage this past weekend.
Once again, I have a rare photo on my camera.
Apparently, that is going to be the norm for this
mother of the bride.

I'm pilfering one off of FB (thanks Jenny!) to share with you.

The day was a tad bit warm,
but the wedding was beautiful.
We are more than anxious to see what our photographer captured.
Like pins and needles. Can't wait another minute.
That kind of anxious.

days like this

Do you have days like this?
If you can count the number of projects going on in this scene,
I'll send you a prize.
Seriously ridiculous.
(The biggest projects of the day aren't even visible.)

Last Friday evening we had a bridal shower for Alyx.
Super fun with a fine group of folks to share the evening and the joy.
Alyx and her sisters ... these three young ladies will be standing together
in a few short weeks.

The wonder that is health insurance has me leaving for work a little earlier these days.
If you knew me several years back ....
at this moment you can't quite believe it is the same person.
5:10 a.m. and I'm on the freeway driving to work.
And I'm not even in my pajamas.
Better yet .... I even remembered my teeth!

This fun wedding planner is the life saver around here right now.
The countdown is seriously on and the list of things to do is dwindling.
We have some creativity and organization planned for next week.

This week my heart has had some very heavy days.
Yes, we are surrounded by things that bring us joy.
At the same time there are families and friends around us whose hearts are breaking.
Their lives are changing in ways that they never imagined.
They trust that God knows what is best and in His time His will be done.
While our conscious mind understands that,
our heart just wants to weep.
There are those that are close to us.
There are others who don't know us, yet we share their sorrow.
May the Lord bless each of them and keep each of them.
May He give each of them peace.

i'm so grateful

This blog has sort of fallen by the wayside under the weight of all the other things going in life.
For some reason, it is crazy busy.
Maybe it is for many blessed reasons.
And, yet, when I check to see if anyone is out there reading .... you are.

I'll get back on track with blathering all sorts of nonsense sometime soon.
Promise.

In the meantime ...

Thanks to all who supported my drive to help the homeless youth in my community.
Thanks to all of you who passed on the message to another person.
Over 450 folks read that blog entry and I appreciate your generosity!!
I raised cash in the amount of $145 and received donations of items as well.
This evening I went and picked up a bunch of goodies that I am planning on dropping off tomorrow.

My goals were a bit loftier than reality, but there is a bunch of loot here that will make someone smile.
I am determined to get back to couponing with weekly store sales ... and passing along what our family isn't in need of.

Just as soon as .....

Probably he who never made a mistake,
never made a discovery.
- Samuel Smiles

Not one finger.
I had to slice both of them.
In the process .... I discovered that maybe I should pass along any duties involving this knife
off to someone else.
Then again.
If the end result is leftover taytekakku for breakfast, would you?
Next time when I manage to slice my fingers, the cake will not get kiwi fruit.
I don't know what it is, but that stuff seriously stings in a cut.

Now that your stomach is growling and your mouth is watering .....
head over to check out some mouth watering photography skills with Gloria!
