39:52 sweet

Project 52
39:52 sweet

Before I launch into my joy over the dollar store, more sweets to be found in Colorado this month!

While living in the honkin' metropolis of Phoenix doesn't afford much in the way of
country peace and quiet living,
it does afford such things as cheap sweet deals and crafting outlets galore.
Being as I am the queen of Only Buy a Dealdom, this affords me great pleasure.

Dollar store deals: candle stick, silver tray, white beads
Home Depot: chalkboard paint which I nearly purchase by the gallon because I would splash it everywhere!
Hobby Lobby: chalkboard marker which has made my life dreamy compared to a regular stick of chalk
Sam's Club: the best little bites of cheesecake this side of a forkful at The Cheesecake Factory
the j: without him ... the cheesecake wouldn't be nearly as sweet

If the cheesecake (because really, who can stop with one piece) doesn't send me into a sugar coma .....
the sweet projects just might.

something old

About a week before the wedding, the hunt was still on for something old.
The something new was scattered from the head of the bride to her toes.
The something blue was the ribbon on her garter made by her mother in law.
The something borrowed was the actual wedding dress itself.
The something old was a bit more challenging.

The result of creative thinking and a marvelous suggestion was this.
Scanned baby pictures of Anna & Wylon were mod podged into miniature frames which hung from her boquet.

The boquet itself ... a beautiful work of art crafted by Gloria's gifted hands.

my beautiful daughter

is off honeymooning on Maui after a busy week and wedding day.
I wish I had a million pictures to share with you, but I don't.
I learned something about being the mother of the bride.
It was more important to me that her day be everything she dreamed of
than it was for me to run around taking hundreds of pictures.
The pictures exist somewhere on someone's camera ... just not mine.

The wedding party photos were shot on Friday afternoon.
Anna gets ready to walk down the aisle for the first glance of her groom.

Grandpa and Grandma Kuoppala were able to come for the wedding.

Three of my sisters, along with my niece Heidi, came to town for the weekend as well.
There will never be enough words to express my gratitude for all they did. Never.
It was so much fun to share time with them.

A wee bit on the serious side ....

Remember ... the pictures on my camera are limited so please forgive the fact that Brock is looking off elsewhere.
I think they're growing up!

There are so many details to live and relive.
So many fun moments.
Moments to reflect on the things that didn't quite go as planned.
Last night I learned something and it had me chuckling off and on all day today.
The bride and her father took a long time to come through the doors into the church.
It was long enough that the her entrance music was over before she made it to the front of the church.
Maybe part of it was they weren't sure when to start walking.
The other part makes my heart melt and was worth the last moments of silence.
Dad was back in the foyer walking around the back of Anna's dress ....
"fluffing" it into perfection before they walked down the aisle.

Silence at the end of that walk down the aisle is well worth the mental picture I will always have.
The picture of a bride's father doing the last thing he can for her before he walks her down the aisle.
The walk that takes her from his home to the home of another for the rest of her life.
The organist might not agree with me .... but the silence is well worth the picture I have in my mind.

I'll share more pictures with you when I have some to share!

37:52 emotion

Project 52

If you stop by here today, we are at the church busily getting ready for tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will welcome a wonderful man into our family
as he and our daughter promise to love, honor and cherish
each other for the rest of their lives.
This is our first wedding.
Our first daughter to get married.
For Jari and myself it is certain to be a day
filled with

emotion.

This way for the next emotion stop around our circle.

what if ....

I step in this puddle.

Will I fall through it?

The rain yesterday was absolutely heavenly! The temps dipped down to tease us for a bit with a little taste of why we live in the desert.

Hoping it stays for a few days!

36:52 the golden hour

Project 52

gold*en hour

In photography, the golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour, especially in cinematography) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day when a specific photographic effect is achieved due to the quality of the light.

gold*en hour

In emergency medicine, the golden hour (also known as golden time) refers to a time period lasting from a few minutes to several hours following traumatic injury, considered the most critical for successful emergency treatment.

I really was hoping to combine the two.
The first hour of daylight this week rising above the hospital at which I work was stunning.
The camera was safely tucked at home where it belonged.

Have a happy weekend!
I am heading off to Mother's Camp at Kamp Kipa.
Unfortunately, I am toting a laptop along with the hope of getting a paper written for school,
but the rest of the time .....
I am going to relax and enjoy!

The Golden Hour this week might lead you to a cup of morning java over this way!
