it might just be time for a road trip
sometimes i measure that need by the size of my country living magazine stack.
when it starts to get out of control, it is time to get on the road
and drive hubby nuts.
cuz that's when i read and rip pages.
i only tear out the pages i want to keep.
he doesn't get it but he's a guy.
he doesn't have to understand ... only tolerate me.
we fly more than drive anymore tho.
what do you suppose my next flights seatmate will say when i start the demolition process.
they'll probably have earbuds in anyway.
my carryon bag just got bigger me thinks.

breathe deeply
"You're only here for a short visit.
Don't hurry, don't worry.
And be sure to smell the flowers along the way."

blonde caring bridge on a wednesday
I got my hairbrush out this morning to do its usual work. Actually, I have three of them. I keep buying more at dollar store because they keep disappearing. There is nothing like getting ready for work at 4:30 in the morning and not being able to find a brush. This time, as most times, it looks like this.
I really don't spend time getting too annoyed about things that aren't worth it, but sort of thought this could qualify as Pet Peeve 7,767.
After I was done using the brush, having removed all the offending blonde strands, I headed to the kitchen to grab a quick bite of something before leaving for work. I am fortunate enough to be able to go in on Wednesday whenever I feel like it. As long as the work gets done, it doesn't matter what time I show up. So, while I mowed down a piece of pizza left over from last night, I started going through the most recent posts I follow on Caring Bridge.
And I have to say…
Who cares if my brush has errant blonde strands in it?
Maybe I should be grateful for them.

wordy wednesday
So ... we are ambling around the house .. just the two of us.
We have kids visiting.
We have grandbabies visiting.
But after a long day at work, it ain't all bad to just sit.
My feet have been howling lately after wearing a lead apron at work all day.
Sitting is good.
So ... the house is quiet.
Last week, on Wednesday, Jari commented on how the dishes just don't seem to accumulate.
Maybe I told him that it would help if I actually cooked something.
I don't remember.
I do know that I can clean the kitchen and it stays that way.
Clean and kitchen in the same sentence?
Maybe I'll have to admit what Alyx did for me last Friday. Later.
So ... the house is empty.
That means that for the first time in 28 years or so we sleep with the bedroom door open.
I shut the hall light off awhile ago, but this is a whole new thing.
Air can circulate!
It is quite a miracle.
And if you lock the front door ...
you can take a shower with the bathroom door open to let out steam in this heat entrenched summer we are enduring.
There are kids who have keys, but I figure if the front door is locked and they just pop on over ...
they deserve what they get.
Did I start off talking about sitting?
Back to that.
I did some sitting this week, and being as my laptop was perched in a convenient position I started editing and organizing photos.
2015 is done up to date!
That includes all photos from my phone.
I do crazy things like label most photos with the date they're taken.
They sometimes end up in other folders that don't have dates on them and then I sort of have a clue.
Now I need to start going backwards in time!
This particular one made me chuckle. Out. Loud.

I think he had a clue what was coming!
Enjoy the rest of your week and the new month! Happy July!

randomness on this wednesday
The camper sold and I figured this yellow really didn't match the other yellow in there ...
so I kept it.
I'm back to sleeping in a tent again when I go camping.
Somehow a tomato plant seed found purchase in the rocks and started growing.
Go figure.
It looks like we are going to have a serious harvest!
And this thing? Left over from last winter's freeze. Trying valiantly to produce.
I love blankets made of used sweatshirts.
Especially ones that have meaning.
The ones I've done have seams exposed.
The first one I pinked all the exposed seams and my hands nearly fell off from the trauma.
The second one I didn't have any shears,
and I seriously like the pinked look better.
To the rescue ... rotary cutter blade that does the job for you!

Sometime in June or July I'll get back to this project.
I'm hopeful.

[trying to be a] wordless wednesday
well ... almost wordless.
this little guy is a mover and a shaker.
and a downright friendly sort.
giving his new friend kisses and high fives.
over the weekend I was having a visit via text.
part of our conversation was about where jari and i might end up living
in this next stage of life.
honestly.
i don't think i could ever leave these little people.
so much for wordless, hey?
